VOLUNTEER OATH

As a Special Olympics volunteer:

* I promise to give of the time in my life so that Special Olympics athletes can have the time of their lives.

* I promise to support Special Olympics not just as an expression of charity, but as a form of respect for my fellow human beings.

* I promise to spread the word of volunteerism because, in giving, I receive so much more in return.

Volunteering for Special Olympics can make a difference in both your life and the lives of others, while creating lifelong friendships and rewards of immeasurable value.  Our Special Olympics volunteers take pride in knowing they are an important part of a global movement that provides athletes with intellectual disabilities an opportunity to experience the excitement, joy and personal fulfillment associated with sport training and competition.

Our volunteers are individuals, groups, and families who want to help make a difference.  Special Olympics is a volunteer organization which means that our Roadrunner volunteers are involved in a multitude of ways.  Many volunteer for specific sports or events, while others are actively involved throughout the year.

Special Olympics offers families the opportunity to be a part of a year-round sports training and competition program which not only provides the entire family with opportunities for sports, social interaction and fun, but also serves as a much needed support system.

Everyone involved with Special Olympics Texas is a winner. While our athletes take home medals and awards, our volunteers leave with a wealth of satisfaction, having seen the expressions of joy from our athletes during competition.
